Hi everyone,
Great to see a group looking after the Palm users in this part of the world after the demise of KVPUG.
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask this question. If its not, please put this in the suitable thread...
I have a Palm T5 and Nokia 6680.Currently I am not able to surf the net from theT5 even though they are both paired. I have no problems surfing the net from the phone by using the phone browser. l am a 3g subscriber and I subscribe to the maxis unlimited data plan.
My question is:
How do I get the 2 devices working so that I can start using the T5 for surfing when I'm in the LRT?
Appreciate any help...

Can you send SMS from the T5 to the Nokia? What about BT dialing?

Hi Palmdoc,
Thanks for rushing to the rescue.
Yes, I can dial and send sms from the T5.
But when I try to dialup to gprs using #99* number, the message from the phone is " Number not in use". I suspect the 3 g connection has a different way to get connected.
Any thoughts on this?

If you can dial and send SMS, then the Bluetooth connection with the T5 is fine. It looks like the GPRS on the T5 setup needs some adjustment. Have you checked up the excellent connectivity article in PalmX?
Palm/info/Gprs setting Maxis
Connection init str at+cgdcont=1,"ip","net";
Network login/pw = maxis:wap phone *99***1# dns 202.75.129.101/2 (automatic also can)
Looks like you got the phone # wrong

Hi Palmdoc,
I tried searching for the article but somehow there was an error to the link. However, I've searched another thread on the old forum and I think I understand a little bit how to set this thing up.
To make matters worse, even after setting the T5 as per the articles, it still won't connect to the net. So, I've set the T5 up with the phone number that you gave and the result was it won't dial. I then decided to change the first character from '*' to '#' and the phone started dialing. However, it still came up with "Number is not in use" message.
If its any help, the settings for the connection in the phone are: access point name =unet, user name = maxis, password = wap.
Sorry to keep on harping on the same thing...
Regards.

init str at+cgdcont=1,"ip","net";
Instead of using "net" for the APN, try use " unet" because if I'm not mistaken, Maxis' 3G connection uses different APN from it's GPRS connection. The additional "u" is for UMTS (3G). So, the new setting will look something like this : init str at+cgdcont=1,"ip","unet"Pls try that and let us know ;-)

Hi Asri,
Thank you for the help. However, I still cannot get connected when the phone dials #99***1#.
I think this is where the problem is.

Hello everyone,
I've managed to get myself connected. The trick was to change the default setting in UUNet connection to the maxis setting Now its working fine.
Now I'm a happy camper!
Regards.

The Palm site says that you cannot retrieve SMS from the Nokia 6670 via the Palm but you can send - is this true for the 6680?

That seems to be the case for my T5 and Nokia 6680. It doesn't concern me though as I'm quite comfortable not having the smsess on the palm. I do backup the Smsess to my notebook via the pc suite... I wonder if Palm is going to work the problem. . . Regards.
