"pastikan ori baru beli" ... prince hector, please no discussion on 'underground' tpye of software in this forum. Out side of this forum ...well, I don't have the right to stop you.

I do agree in a way that iambic is charging too much everytime they upgrade the from one version number to a new version number, but for me I did my own assessment whether the upgrade is worthwhile paying for. I heve been a registered Agendus user since version 3 (ActionNames back then). Paid USD12.00 for it back then. Later upgrades to version 5, which if I am not mistaken, was still free at that time. When Agendus 6 cost momey to upgrade, I tested the new version for a while, but my "old" monochrome PDA cannot take advantage of the "new" version 6 Agendus. I only upgraded to version 7 when I bought a color screen PDA aand that also because iambic gave me an e-coupon for being a registered user. I skipped version 8, 9 .... now version 10, at USD9.95 it is a good time for me to upgrade again.

Agendus is far more intuitive and easier to use than DateBook; but for some reason it kept freezing my machine. Then there is the issue of the background eating up precious memory. I finally got fed up with it and shifted to Datebook, against my better judgement. Although Datebook does what it is supposed to do and is reliable, it is as lumbering as an elephant. Now that Agendus v 10 is out, I might be tempted to go back to this application.

Agendus 10 is reasonably spritely on a Treo650. I don't bother with backgrounds. Just uses up too much precious resources. I do wish they would use the same contact pictrue database as Palm though!

Man!!!! I have spent so much money on this Action Names/Agendus and I will never even think about the dark side - meanig I would have asted all that money.  I am such a sucker - unlike Nazley - I upgraded to each and every version of AN/Agendus.....sigh....but I do not that it is the best PIM - although I agree with NAzley that not all the upgrades were that fantastic.

I agree with Palmdoc that the backgrounds use too much resources - in fact, I do sometimes have problems with the PDAs if I were to activate the background this - precious little memory already and the backgrounds use so much of it - although it was not too bad on the T3.

I have yet to upgrade to Agendus 10 from 9 but there are a lot of additional features which should have been there probably 2 upgrades ago. Well, better late than never - hesitating in taking up the upgrade now because does not work too well with my smartphone although it has no problems with my T3 and UX50  Undecided

I too never use the background feature but for a different reason. I find that if I leave the background plain white, it's easier for me to glance at my calendar and tasks.

Coming from a DateBk5 (and before that, Action Names), I actually prefer to use DataBk5 because of it's super flexibility. I can make it work just like the way I want it to work. For example:

i. Currently, if I still can't do a floating appointment with Agendus. In DateBk5, this floating appointment will keep rolling-over day to day until I mark it as done (it has a checkbox). Currently what I do with Agendus is make an appointment roll-over, then put a strikethrough effect when done AND I have to set the end-date to today to make it stop rolling over. Obviously, not as intuitive as DateBk5 in this aspect. Agendus is not smartenough to NOT roll-over any strikethrough appointments (indicating it's been completed)

ii. No way for me to set a common alarm for untimed appointments. In DateBk5, I get to select a common alarm for all untimed appointments (usually put 10.00 am). Keeping to the GTD principles, untimed appointments are important to me (they indicate tasks that MUST be completed today, but not at a specific time). Not only that, the way Agendus sets its alarm is not intuitive for untimed appointments You cannot simply select a time to indicate alarms, you must select X hour before/after the appointments start. So if I want to set an untimed appointment's alarm to go off at 8 pm, I've gotta put in 20 hours, after the untimed appointment takes place, since untimed appointments are assumed to be at 12.00 am.

iii. Too many steps to set an alarm - for both appointments and tasks. For my issue appointments' alarms, see above. For tasks, why can't they put  larger drop down menu to select the various days? In order to select 'Due date' (it's common to put alarms on due date, right?) I must scroll down. I remember DateBK5 being much more faster in this and it has a larger choice of options to set alarms as well.

Why am I using Agendus then? Well, the tight integration with contacts and the excellent renderings of tasks won me over. I'm hoping they would fix the few usability issues I have but so far, nothing has happened. Previously I jumpd to DateBk5 because Agendus was buggy and crash prone. I switched after version Agendus 6 (never used 7 or 8 ). Switched back at 9.x, which has proven to be stable, even on a T5. And I switched to 10 after the initial .0 release. But somehow, I still find DateBK5 faster a bit for me in the Calendering...

Ok, enough of me ranting Grin

This thread has become DateBk vs Agendus  Grin but I am too a registered DateBk user. I started switching to Agendus when DateBk didn't support Treo650 for a while. Then I continue using Agendus and have no complaint.

However the current Agendus does have rollover function. Please correct me if I am wrong as I am using it now & a new feature for v10 that I love so much.

As for the statistic of who is the best seller, number one, I think the data is cummulative. How do we know that for the recent years, Agendus has surpass DateBk? They should give the number vs time. Number two, the data means that there are so many registered DateBk than Agendus. Remember, DateBk is more towards donation & partly (IINM) will be channelled to a wildlife preservation. Agendus is purely commersial and see how they keep on charging people for every upgrade. I only remember registering once for my DateBk.

Just a cheap opinion. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Peace.

Paying for Datebk also goes towards helping out with a Gorilla sanctuary  Cool
My 2 sen is I find Datebk more suited for those with Calendering needs. Those with Contact management needs are better off with Agendus.

I concur that Palmdoc. Agendus is contact priority & DateBk is appointment/event priority.

tembeling, yes, I notice the roll-over features as well, but it still does not allow me to mark a rolled-over appointment as 'done'. Have to delete it off, right?

I hope this thread doesn't turn into any 'vs' thread. I was just pointing out some issues I'm having with Agendus. On a lighter note, Agendus did improve one thing - previously if I missed a daily repeating task, checking it off today, will make it repeat *tomorrow*. I've always prefered that if I check a daily task yesterday, it would re-appear today not tomorrow.

DatebK is not appointment/event priority - it's Contact handicapped! Not even a contact management *anything* Wink
