Praymind v1.0 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Admin PalmX.Org

This program is the latest which has just been released in June 03. I have been using the previous version since I first bought a PDA which is obviously a Palm – Palm Vx.

Moving around in parts of Malaysia and the rest of the world won’t be a problem about knowing the prayer times as this program provide that information.

The program kept up to expectation informing us the prayer times, alarm for the prayer times, qiblat direction and above all it is in colour. I just love using with my two and half year old Sony Clie T615C.

Installation process was a breeze where one has to just install the three files provided namely praymind.prc, mathlib and prayMindDB.pdb. However for those who are already using praymind with the previous version, you are advised just to install the new praymind.prc. If we keep the previous prayMindDB.pdb, we do not have to add new location to the database then.

The cities provided in the txt file in the program is only 106 cities around the world. The information consists of latitude, longitude, time, altitude and daylight zone savings. This information is necessary to configure the cities location.

Configuration

Preferences:

Choose your figh and calculation of fajr and ‘isha according to different organization. In Malaysia, most of us are Shafie Fiqh and I use the World Muslim Leaque organization choice.(addendum - please refer to the table below - Azmi)

Location:

In the database, there is only 10 cities provided from the prayMindDB.pdb. This is to keep the file thin. As I came from Kota Bharu, Malaysia, I have to modify and key in the data. We can get this information from the table below.

Alarms:

We can set alarm for the prayer times and alarm icon will be available at the side of the prayer time.

Hijri date:

With the latest, this is available and changes can be made if need arises.

Qiblat:

This will show where the qiblat according to the position of the sun, north or south.

Extract from the text file by the developer with the version 1.0

1. Added Colors and Grayscale support!

2. Fixed "Mathlib not found" error if another program uses mathlib.

3. Re-designed the Qiblah Finder compass to be more attractive.

4. Revamped alarms by making them more flexible and removing the annoying warnings.

5. Made the Preferences dialog more user friendly by providing a list of standard Fajr/Isha methods.

6. Added Islamic (Hijri) date.

7. Fixed memory leaks detected by newer development tools.

The program is a freeware and I like to thank its developer and can be contacted at
